چکیده

MMM usually presents with fatigue, weight loss, splenomegaly with or without symptoms. Anemia and various alterations of the white blood cell and/or platelet count are frequently seen at diagnosis. Thrombocytopenia-related bleeding may occur. MMM must be distinguished from myelodysplasia with fibrosis, from acute megakayoblastic leukemia and acute myelofibrosis. As the disease progresses, increased marrow fibrosis with severe symptomatic peripheral cytopenias and extramedullary hemopoiesis predominate, with consequent massive splenomegaly, hepatomegaly with portal hypertension, pulmonary hypertension. Leukemic transformation may represent the terminal event in 5-20% of the cases.

Localized tuberculosis and myelofibrosis with myeloid metaplasia: an extremely unusual presentation.

Myelofibrosis w’ith myeloid metaplasia (MMM) is usually considered primary agnogenic, however, it may be secondary to various diseases, The association of tuberculosis with MMM is exceedingly rare, however, the pathogenetic relationship between the two is difficult to define. We present a case report showing simultaneous presentation of localized active tuberculosis and MMM The literature on th...

[Myelofibrosis with myeloid metaplasia].

Introduction Myelofibrosis with myeloid metaplasia (MMM) represents both agnogenic myeloid metaplasia (AMM) and the fibrotic stages of polycythemia vera (PV) and essential thrombocythemia (ET). The latter two conditions are also referred to as post polycythemic myelofibrosis (PPM) and post thrombocythemic myelofibrosis (PTM). MMM is currently classified under the broad category of chronic myelo...

Agnogenic myeloid metaplasia: a clonal proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells with secondary myelofibrosis.

The glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PD) types and chromosomes of hematopoietic and other tissues were determined in a woman with agnogenic myeloid metaplasia. The patient was heterozygous at the X-linked G-6-PD locus so that both B and A isoenzymes were found in nonhematopoietic cells. In contrast, only one G-6-PD type was found in granulocytes, red cells, and platelets. She also had a d...

Clinical, pathological and molecular features of the chronic myeloproliferative disorders: MPD 2005 and beyond.

The combined use of bone marrow histopathology, biomarkers and clinical features has the potential to diagnose, stage and distinguish early and overt stages of ET, PV and idiopathic myelofibrosis, that has an important impact on prognosis and treatment of MPD patients. As the extension of the PVSG and WHO for ET, PV and agnogenic myeloid metaplasia (AMM), a new set of European clinical and path...

Bone marrow angiogenesis and its clinical correlates in myelofibrosis with myeloid metaplasia.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Previous retrospective studies have indicated markedly increased bone marrow angiogenesis (BMA) in myelofibrosis with myeloid metaplasia (MMM). This issue is further examined in the current prospective study and clinico-pathological correlates sought. DESIGN AND METHODS This was a prospective single institutional study of 66 patients with bone marrow biopsy-proven MM...
